Primer 2

Pre-Coat designed for sublimation transfer on natural fibre.

pre-coat2

Primer 2 pre-coat primes material used for sublimation transfer on cotton and other natural fibre materials (silk, linien, wool). Primer is produced on the base of water dispersion of acrylic resin. It is water-dilutable and becomes water resistant after drying. It creates very thin, elastic, homogenous and soft polymer layer on the material's surface.

Before using sublimation transfer on 100% woll and other natural fibres, the whole sufrace of material should be covered with pre-coat (Primer 2 is strongly resistant to washing, therfore it should be precisely and carefully brought on material, with the use of suitable forms and patterns). The most common methodes of covering material with pre-coat are:

  • sieves (result in very even cover)

  • rollers used for thick acrylic lacquer

  • a compressed air gun,

Correctly covered surface should dry. The process of drying can be speeded up with the use of hair dryer or heat press (temperature of 160 Celsjus degree). The distance from heat source should be about 3 meters. We advice to conduct your own tests in order to optimize sublimation transfer. Normally the temperature of sublimation transfer is about 160 Celsjus degree and the time is about 30 seconds. It is necessary to wash the material after sublimation transfer, as it makes it elastic. The quality of printform depends on the thickness of Primer 2 layer. When the layer is too thin makes the colour less intense. After the sublimation transfer the printform is more durable. However, the process of complete polymerization lasts about 72 hours, after that time the durability of printform is the highest.

Productivity: depends on the type of fabric (its thickness) and adsorption capacity: form 2 to 15 m2/kg

Market: White and pastel fabrics. Dark fabrics should be first covered with colourless Primer 2 and next with the white one. This procedure increases the costs of preparing the material for sublimation transfer. We supply white Primer 2 which includes titanium dioxide.

Market's segments:

  • Industrial printing on sports clothes before they are sewed

  • Unprinted T-shirts waiting for further personalization

  • Decorations

  • Fashion Design

  • Awnings production

Available quantities: 1L and 5L

We recommend to preserve the printform with the laminate Top Coat (available in our online shop) designed for fabric, increases washing-resistance.
