Primer 4

Lakier przeznaczony do sublimacji na różnorodne (sztywne) media

Primer 4 was designed on the base of water dispersion of acrylic resin. The mixture of hardener and primer, added in right proportions, is liquid in hardening conditions. Next it undergoes polyreactions, which results in creation of solid cross-linked polymer- hardened primer.

Primer 4 is water-dilutable and becomes water resistant after drying It creates very thin, elastic, homogenous and soft polymer layer on the material's surface, which enables sublimation transfer.

Adding pigment to Primer 4 results in desirable colour of painted surface. The tipical example is white lacquer Primer 4 used for sublimation printing including white elements (there is no white sublimation ink).

For optimum results, we recommend that you will follow the instructions below:

  • Primer 4 and hardener for primer 4 should be mixed very carefully, the best way is to use mixer with vane (1kg of primer + 240-270g of hardener, the exact amount of hardener should be set based on chosen surface)

  • When the lacquer is ready its consistency should be homogenous without air bubbles. If you see the air bubbles, you should wait until they disappear. The mixture of primer and hardener will solidify irretrievably after 3 hours.

  • The surface that is ready for preliminary coverage with primer should be dry and clean.

  • Primer should be applied with the use of laminator, roller for dense arcylic lacquer or compressed air pistol.

  • If the lacquer is too thick for pistol, you can dilute it with small amount of distilled water.

  • We recommend the application of two thin layers of lacquer instead of one thick layer (obviously after the first layer will dry)

  • During the lacquering you should use protective gloves, which are resistant to chemicals and made of butyl rubbers, nitril rubber, neoprene. Gloves made of natural latex should not be used. Safety goggles and protective facemask should be used in case of product spraying. Avoid inhalation of noxious vapour. When the requirements concerning proper ventilation are not fulfilled and the amount of NDS components is exceeded, use protection of air passages (especially when you use compressed air pistol) with P2-A filter,

  • After the primed sufrace has dried, it should be hardened by heating up (full crosslinking process, in other words hardening of polymer layer lasts up to 7 days in room temperature) for about 6-10 minutes in temperature 70-80 degrees Celsius. We recommend to make your own tests.

  • After the primed surface has been hardened, we recommend to wait about 24 hours until the printing, thanks to that the layer of primer will obtain its best properties.

  • The printfrom that we want to transfer on stiff, hard material (e.g ceramics, tiles, hard/rigid plastics) with the use of printer or ploter. Next the printform should be transfered on primed surface with the use of press or other machine, which eables sublimation. Normally the temperature of transfer is from 190 to 210 degrees Celsius, and the time of transfer is from 1 to 3 minutes. We recomment to conduct your own tests based on the machine you have).
